Diversity Initiatives

All of Dr. Sara Qualls’ work involves older adult populations, and addresses age-related bases of EDI. In particular, Dr. Qualls contributed to development of models for family development and intervention that are focused on later life (versus the more typical child-rearing phase). She also recently completed a review chapter on the ways in which social structures such as gender and ethnicity/race influence caregiving for older adults within families. Dr. Qualls is deliberate in clinical supervision of students to ensure that cultural factors are considered carefully.
